The changing faces of Dallas

With the ‘will she, won’t she?’ surrounding Pam Ewing’s possible return to the show (and possible return for Victoria Principal at the same time-though she has issued a statement saying she definitely won’t be coming back-or words to that effect) fans have been divided on whether or not that character should be recast. A lot of fans, not including myself, say ‘It’s Victoria or it’s no one!’ whereas others, myself included, would support a recast, if done right and if it meant having the character of Pam back in the show (personally I believe she’s the missing piece of the puzzle).
But speaking of recasts it got me thinking as to how many other parts on Dallas have been recast (including both Dallas 1.0, 2.0 & JR Returns) and here they are! The characters which have had more than one actor playing them are:

Miss Ellie was played by Barbara Bel Geddes and Donna Reed played the character for one year.

  1. Isaiah says:

Please get Victoria principal or Margerat Michaels back on DALLAS show

    • theewing says:

      Hi,

Thanks for the comment, I totally agree. Pam needs to be a part of Dallas whether played by Victoria or Margaret or someone else if cast correctly.

  2. Isaiah says:

It would really help the ratings go up on Dallas show if Victoria principal Margaret Michaels come back. The old Dallas cast coming back really special

    • theewing says:

Hi, thanks for the comment. I agree and also think that the ratings would go right up. Pam was/is an essential part of the story on Dallas, the show was never the same after she left and personally I think the character is the missing piece of the puzzle on Dallas 2.0.

  3. Gary Warner says:

It’s been 20 years. Bring the character back. It would be nice to have Victoria. However, I must say Dallas has had an excellent success rate in recasting characters. Specially Jenna Wade, Kristin Shepard, and Gary Ewing.

Hi Gary, thanks for the comment. As we all now know, Pam is -assuming it’s for real-dead. However, and it’s certainly not unheard of in soapland, should the character come back I would certainly support a recast especially now when it seems Victoria Principal is adamant she doesn’t want to return.

  4. Yes. So suddenly changed Digger personality and was really nice and not rigid furiously angry as before.

  5. I Jean says:

It would benefit the show if they were to bring back former actresses, like the Dallas native who played Charlie Wade (Laurie Lynn Myers). It would be good to bring her and Morgan Fairchild back to claim the inheritance they deserve.

    • Dan says:

      Hi Jean,

Thanks for reading and the comment. I totally agree the show is missing the well loved characters of old. Bobby & Sue Ellen, while great to watch, are not enough on their own. Fans are crying out for the return of Katherine, Donna, Ray, Lucy, etc etc but the producers seem to not be listening. It’s a real shame.
